AFFORDABLE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT - 29 DISRAELI STREET, PICTON

On July 20th, 2022, the Prince Edward County Planning Committee recommended the approval of rezoning the property located at 29 Disraeli Street to permit the construction of affordable housing. This recommendation for approval of the rezoning will be taken to County Council on August 16th. 2022.


The County declared the property as surplus with the Housing Corporation assuming ownership of the property in June 2022. The intention of the Housing Corporation is the construction of a 12 unit multi-residential building comprising of 6 - bachelor units and 6 - one bedroom units. The Housing Corporation is working in partnership with Mohawks Bay of Quinte (MBQ) where 50% of the units will be specific for indigenous youth between the ages of 18 and 30 who are working in the County. A Site Plan and architectural design are currently in the process of being completed for public discussions and input at public information sessions to be scheduled in the early fall. 


Construction of the development is projected for Fall 2023 with a projected completion date for occupancy in late 2023. The public will be informed of further details and dates of public meetings as the process for development moves forward.
